This mask made me think of strong and beautiful women leaders. Throughout the ages, these women have worn headpieces/crowns and masks, both literal and figurative (Cleopatra, Elizabeth the first, etc. ). Purple is a color associated with royalty, power, and authority, as is gold. At the same time, the gold is very decorative and playful, and reminded me of how women can find joy and relational meaning in changing their appearance (braiding hair etc.) and so the gold also symbolizes the value of recognizing beauty within.
